Missing the Moment

I’ve heard it said that you can’t miss what God has for you. Truthfully, I used to subscribe to this belief too.
But as I’ve grown in my understanding of God's ways, I’ve changed my mind. Contrary to popular belief, I believe it is possible to miss your moment.
Throughout scripture, the Lord gives us examples of people who missed out on His promises and will for them.
Lot’s wife didn’t get to experience a future with her family because of her love of the world.
Sarah robbed herself of the gift of bearing Abraham’s first child because of her unbelief.
The first generation of Israelites died in the wilderness because of their double-mindedness.
Moses didn’t get to enter the Promised Land because of his disobedience.
Judas forfeited his role as one of the original twelve disciples because of his sinful heart.
Transparently, just like these men and women, when I look back over my life, I can think of so many times when I took hard lefts even when I knew God was clearly saying to go right. I've missed opportunities and moments because of my own rebellion, fear, and unbelief.
Now, don't get me wrong. We serve a God who is gracious enough to cover our missteps and wrongs. Jesus' death and resurrection are proof that despite our brokenness, His will for us is to live an abundant life.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10
However, it's very dangerous to think there are no consequences for spiritually blind eyes, hardened hearts, and clogged ears.
The truth is, you cannot experience the full life God has for you when you have settled for a life of cyclical sin and disobedience.
Even more, we abuse God’s grace when we think we can live a purposeful life without proper labor or stewardship over what He has given us. Just because the Lord is able doesn’t mean nothing will be required of you in this life.
Moments will come and go. Don’t forfeit yours because of your unbelief and inaction.
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Ephesians 5:15-17

Ouh! GOD please help my unbelief
"we abuse God’s grace when we think we can live a purposeful life without proper labor or stewardship over what He has given us." Sobering perspective. We should not take for granted the gift of grace we have been given.
